There is a lot to tell about us, because we love and live history.
Preserve. Renew. Revitalize.
Our philosophy
Sitting together, talking and laughing. Being out and about in nature, taking a deep breath and letting your gaze wander far and wide. Having time for a good meal made from fresh ingredients, smelling and tasting a variety of aromas.
Enjoyment has many faces – enjoying life is our philosophy. We value authenticity and focus on both genuine and pure experiences. We are fascinated by stories and history. We are deeply moved by discovering dusty treasures and breathing new life into them.
Our journey into the past and into the future began with the historic Dorfgasthof Hirsch . Today, the hotel forms the heart of our unique culinary ensemble. Together with our dedicated team, we do everything we can to ensure that you as our guest feel happy and experience your own personal moments of pleasure.
Historic village inn Hirsch
The history
For a fabulous 27 years, the Gasthof Hirsch was closed and almost forgotten. It was not until 2011 that Alfons Keck and Christian Skrodzki brought the property out of its slumber and spent two years renovating, refurbishing and planning the “new” village inn. In 2014, the Hirsch wins the “exemplary village inn competition”. Today, guests are once again seated in the inn’s parlor with its original furnishings from 1906. Guests dine in the corner store from the 1920s and the shelves are filled with products. The village bakery with its historic oven is a real gem. Next door, in the former hayloft, cheerful people celebrate weddings or family parties in the rustic Hirschstadel, which can accommodate 190 people. In the shooting range of the shooting club and in the historic dance hall, 13 very different hotel rooms have been created. A beer garden and sun terrace round off the ensemble. The historic wash house also offers space for a further six rooms and has been fully renovated since 2017. Guests now stay here in two spacious apartments, among other things. Tobias Schwägele joins as Managing Director in 2013. He is experienced in the hotel and catering industry and takes over the management of the business as “Hirsch-Wirt”.
“Hello, dear guests and connoisseurs! I am Lina Marie Buß, your host here in Urlau, and I am delighted to welcome you to two very special establishments: the modern Allgäu Genusshotel, with its fresh design and relaxed atmosphere, and the historic Dorfgasthof Hirsch, where the tradition and charm of the Allgäu are alive and well.
What do both establishments have in common? A passion for authenticity, regionality and attention to detail. For us, this includes working with the best food from the region. Many of our products come from farmers and producers here in the Allgäu – so that you can experience the real taste of our homeland.
And beyond the kitchen, we also focus on the special features of our region: hand-woven cushion covers, handmade lamps and toothbrush mugs, which are made with great care and attention to detail in the Allgäu Genussmanufaktur next door, bring the charm of the Allgäu directly into our rooms and suites. Our in-house brewery also produces a beer that reflects the taste of our homeland, and the coffee comes from the roastery here in Urlau. So you can feel and taste the variety and quality of regional craftsmanship in our hotel.
We are also proud of our international team, which makes our company even more colorful and lively. With employees and trainees from countries such as India, Morocco, Egypt, Ukraine, Poland, Mongolia and many other nations, we bring together diverse cultures, stories and experiences. This diversity not only enriches the way we work together, but also the experience for our guests – making every visit to our hotel a little trip around the world in the heart of the Allgäu.
My team and I are already looking forward to welcoming and pampering you here with us”
Best regards from Urlau
